Impeachment Trials

Josh Green, Reporter

In the past few weeks President Donald John Trump has had two articles of impeachment brought against him by the House of Represenatives, obstruction of Congress and abuse of power. These articles will now be brought to the Senate and if two thirds of the Senate vote to remove Trump from office, Mike Pence the Vice President will become commander and chief of our nation. Trump’s obstuction of Congress and abuse of power is fairly clear, because he withheld $391 million Congress approved finacial aid for Ukraine to get dirt on his opponent Joe Biden’s family who has buisnesses in Ukraine. They also have evidence of this abuse of power, through a phone call President Trump had with Volodymyr Zelensky the Ukrainian President. In this phone call, Trump urged Zelensky to investigate into Joe Biden and his son Hunter. Trump said he believed Hunter and Biden had acted in corrupt activities with little to no evidence and told Zelensky to do him a “Favor”. Asking for dirt on political opponent from a foriegn ally in order to slander Joe Biden and better his chances of re-election is a clear abuse of office and against the constitution. These articles, even though they have good and credible evidence will probably die in the Senate. The Senate currently has a Republican majority and is very helpful for their party if Trump stays in office. Many Republicans do not care if Trump broke the law or not, they only care about moving motives that are beneficial to them. Trump even once saying “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.”.   If we keep allowing these politicians to do crimes and get off scott free, they will never learn and our founding fathers will roll in their graves.
