In Kenya there is an extremely rare breed of giraffe, known as the white giraffe. There were only three known to be alive, but poachers managed to kill two of them. One of the giraffes was the mother and the other was her 7 month old baby calf. Kenya did have the giraffes in a conservation area, but persistent poachers managed to murder them and get away. Kenya does not have a great security system when it comes to poachers and has been trying to adress the problem for years. Sadly there is only one white giraffe known to exist currently and is in a conservation area. The giraffe will most likely be preserved or bred to try and keep the rare species alive. Poachers have driven many animal to extinction over the years, like the wooly mammoth and the Tazmanian tiger. This has outraged many activists and conservationists, who are know calling for better protection of endangered animals.
